



Child domestic work is a significant issue in Nigeria, with 89% of child domestic workers reporting conditions that violate national laws, and 53% working seven days a week without a rest day. The Protect Child Domestic Workers (PCDW) from Maltreatment Program is a pilot intervention designed to address these challenges through strategic collaboration among state and non-state actors and enhancing multi-stakeholder accountability platforms in Lagos State.
CAPRIGHTS-VP is actively participating in the initiation phase of the Protect Child Domestic Workers from Maltreatment Program in partnership with Street Project Foundation and Devatop, supported by the United States Department of State and funded by the Freedom Fund. The program focuses on reducing child domestic work exploitation and improving the overall environment for child protection.
Key Objectives of the Project:
- Improve the enabling environment by the Government of Lagos State and Nigeria to reduce Child Domestic Work Exploitation (CDW) by 2028.
- Reduce sociocultural practices that promote CDW in Lagos State and Nigeria by 2028.
- Strengthen accountability platforms for CDW in Lagos.
