On Saturday, October 12th, 2024, CAPRIGHTS-VP had the incredible honor of joining the 3rd Edition of The Girl Child Initiative, hosted by the inspiring Mrs. Umeh Chinyere, a dedicated TGC advocate. Held at the Correctional Training College, Apapa, under the theme “Girls’ Vision for the Future,” the day was a true celebration of girl power and potential. We had the chance to speak with the girls about an essential topic: building a healthy relationship with their bodies. Through interactive discussions on menstrual hygiene and self-care, we encouraged them to embrace their natural growth with confidence and to see their well-being as key to their success.

What made the experience even more powerful was the opportunity to talk about protecting child domestic workers—an issue close to our hearts. We urged the girls to not only advocate for their own rights but to stand up for others who might be vulnerable to abuse and exploitation. Their energy and enthusiasm for creating a brighter future were inspiring. We’re confident these girls are ready to lead change in their communities, ensuring every girl is treated with dignity and respect.
